I'm so excited that the long-awaited album "Wild Monsoon" is released, a collaboration with 3x Grammy winner Ricky Kej,
East meets West π World Beat meets New Age. _________
Ricky and I first met around 10 years ago. In 2013 we were both nominated for a ZMR Music Award for Best New Age Album. Sitting together each of us thought the other was going to win but we both lost. β ...but we decided there that we could combine our diverse yet complementary musical styles and collaborate on a project
This musical collaboration has been years in the making. Ricky went on to win 2 Grammy awards and take the world stage as a leader in environmental awareness, a cause I also share. I've been busy producing other artists, as well as collaborating with author Lissa Coffey to create a musical version of the Bhagavad Gita, Song Divine. Throughout, Ricky and I have continued to hone our vision for the album that's become "Wild Monsoon" -- a celebration of the music in nature, and an encouragement to find harmony and balance.
We finally completed the mixes for this project, just days before Ricky's 2nd Grammy win (for "Divine Tides" with former Police drummer Stewart Copeland.)
Beginning with Ricky's keen melodic and cinematic sensibilities, I added my own genre-blending innovations and βcanβt help but busta moveβ grooves --- the kind of mashup that's become my calling card.
In addition to the power duo of Gregoli/Kej, the album features many of India's finest musical artists, as well as South African flautist Wouter Kellerman on "Mahatma" ...and the enchanting and powerful vocals of Kimberly Haynes on "Badra (Rain)".
